Keep Young & Beautiful

keep young and beautiful

Last week I wrote about how it is possible to reverse something that is commonly blamed on ageing or general wear and tear.

What has really pleased me is the amount of you that have been in contact to tell me you’ve done the same thing, by taking matters into your own hands. Well done, I love hearing stories like that!

When things start to wear out in your body, or you get an illness or disease that tends to come on in later life, then one of your big problems is that you metabolism is screwed. The good news here is that you can do something about this.

The main thing I teach people about in my online weight loss course is to improve their metabolism. One way of doing that is to eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg, ideally more veg than fruit.

Last week in the UK press there was a piece of research reported that said our ‘5 a day’ message is too little. For example in Australia their recommendations are to have 5 portions of veg/day and 2 of fruit. This is better, but the research suggested it should be even more than that.

Basically the more fruit and veg people each on a regular basis the healthier they are. This means they are less likely to succumb to the common degenerative illnesses that afflict people in the UK (and countries who eat like us).

Personally I eat over 7/day and this is easy to do. Here’s how I do it:

  1. Smoothie for breakfast – (includes a whole avocado) = 4 portions
  2. Salad with whatever I’m having for lunch = 2 portions
  3. Home prepared vegetable juice = quite a few portions
  4. Big serving of steamed veg with my main meal = 3 portions

When you get into the habit of eating like this you are giving your body good raw materials that it needs to keep things running smoothly, i.e. you are helping your metabolism.

Next week I’ll tell you about a few ways to wreck your metabolism, so you choose to avoid them.

If you have found this helpful please share it and help me help more people.

  1. It all makes sense! Fortunately I love fruit and veg, and your blog, chocolate seems to be my downfall sometimes!

    1. I live by being healthy 80-90% of the time because it’s what you do most of the time that counts. It also means that chocolate doesn’t necessarily have to be a downfall.
I have a bit of dark chocolate most days after dinner and don’t consider this naughty, just nice 🙂
