A shake for breakfast, a shake for lunch and a sensible meal later on. Is this really the route to long term health and your ideal weight?
I was asked by a valued friend to give my opinion on a video explaining the science behind these shakes.
Before I get into that I would like to share something one of the people attending my Fat Loss course emailed to me:
As a species we have moved so far away from our natural diet that most people don’t even know what the human body’s nutritional needs are any more.
She really has hit the nail on the head!
Without knowing something about your body’s real needs it is difficult for you to evaluate the claims from apparent experts when they promote the ‘proven’ benefits of products like this.
This shake is promoted as a low sugar, low carb, low fat and high protein meal replacement.
It is low sugar because it has the artificial chemical sweetener sucralose in it.
Is low fat a good thing? Fats are essential to your health and some actually help speed your metabolism up. In turn this actually helps you to lose fat.
Low carb is very trendy these days. Some carbs are a disaster to your waist line but others help you to trim down. Knowing the difference is really important, it means you can enjoy real food and maintain a slim body.
There is also lots of talk about how the 3 kinds of protein in these shakes build lean muscle. Proteins eaten in excess of your needs are broken down to the simple sugar glucose. Then it is either burned off as energy or converted to fat. Proteins only build muscles if you are exercising.
The key to long term health and your ideal weight lies in education.
Learning what your body really needs to feel great and be slim enables you to make the right choices.
