How Can You Lose Weight When You’re a Foodie?

How can you lose weight if you’re a real foodie?

Can being slim AND being a foodie happily coexist?

What is a Foodie

I looked this up on Wikipedia and this is what it said – a person who has an ardent or refined interest in food. A foodie seeks new food experiences as a hobby rather than simply eating out of convenience or hunger.

Just as I thought – I’m a foodie!

Limiting Beliefs

We all have limiting beliefs, things that hold us back. We believe things about ourselves that hold us back from doing the things we want to do, and achieve.

I used to have one that stopped me talking to more than one or two people at a time. Any more and I’d get all nervous (and even go bright red). I could barely open my mouth at meetings without trembling.

I believed that I couldn’t confidently talk to more than one or two people at once, so this held true for my experience of life. Until I got rid of it of course, I don’t believe that about myself any more, and am over that problem.

Some overweight people hold the (limiting) belief that they can’t be slim and a foodie at the same time.

And guess what?

For them it’s true!

They either can’t lose weight, or they can’t enjoy food (because they’re on a diet). They can’t do both together.

How Can You Lose Weight?

I am a foodie. I am slim too. I happen to hold the (empowering) belief that it’s possible to be both at the same time.

I know plenty of other slim foodies too.

I suspect that slim foodies may enjoy their food even more than their overweight counterparts, simply because we do not worry about putting weight on (or trying to lose it), and there is no guilt at all about the odd indulgence in fattening and unhealthy food.

If you hold the (limiting) belief that you can’t lose weight AND enjoy your food, you’re destined to continue being overweight or have long-term unhappiness around food.

You might even be holding this belief without realising, have a peek inside your mind – do you think ‘How can you lose weight and enjoy food? That’s just not possible!’

You have to get over this if you’re going to lose weight AND be happy.

It’s all in your mindset – until you change things in there you won’t move forward.
